Who appeared on the United States $20 bill in 1875?
Answer: Pocahontas graced the back of the $20 bill from 1865 to 1869 and again in 1875. On the bill, Pocahontas appears dressed in a gown and kneeling on a podium before a priest, flanked by settlers on one side and Native Americans on the other. Martha Washington is the only other woman to appear on U.S. federal paper money. Women have been more commonly featured on U.S. coins: the Susan B. Anthony dollar coin, the Sacagawea dollar coin, and Helen Keller’s appearance on an Alabama special-issue quarter.
